In home newborn photo session highlights - Atlanta, Ga

Are your parents or in-laws coming to help in the days and weeks after your baby is born? Did you know that they can be part of your at home newborn photo session too? These first time parents were lucky to have some of their extended family visit to help out when they welcomed their new baby boy home.

Grandparents or other important people in your life are welcome to be a part of your newborn photo session. Having a new baby is a big transition in life, and being surrounded by the people who will love and support you is so important.

Don’t forget the dog!! The beloved family pet is always welcome to join in as well. This cute pup was so happy to be in the photos and welcome the newest member of the family.

This beautiful blanket was made by the grandmother’s friend. It was so special to wrap her new baby grandson in the handmade blanket and get some photos of him. If you have a special object, blanket, or outfit that you want included in your newborn photo session then let me know and I am happy to work with you to include what is important to you and your family.

As you can see from these highlights, an at home photo session can be inside your home, outside in your front or backyard, or a combination. The weather was great during this newborn session, so we did photos both inside the home and out in the backyard.

I love the simple, solid blue newborn outfit that this baby boy wore during the photo session. It brought a great pop of color, but wasn’t distracting from focusing on all his tiny, beautiful features.

Atlanta Newborn Photographer | Welcome Home Baby

Welcoming your new baby home is such a beautiful moment. You have spent weeks, months, or even longer prepping for this tiny little human to join your family. You have spent time picking out newborn outfits, decorating the nursery, gathering all the supplies that are needed for a newborn…and now they are here!

At Home Newborn Sessions are a great way to document the time soon after you’ve brought your new baby home.

These photo sessions are typically when the baby is between 5-10 days old, so it is perfect to capture all those tiny little features of the newest family member before they grow so quickly.

Having a newborn baby is wonderful, but hard, and tiring, and lovely, and anxiety-inducing, and precious, etc, etc. I know that coming to a person’s home after such a life changing event can be an intimate space, and I love that part of my job. I have been there. I am a mom to three. I know the feelings wrapped into the postpartum period, the difficulties and the joys. I don’t take that for granted, and I am so honored to be there to document this season of life.

I had met this lovely couple during our Maternity Photo Session together and instantly liked them. I love talking to soon-to-be parents and hear what they are excited about, nervous about, and listening to their unique journey into parenthood. Then, I feel so lucky to come and meet the little baby that was so loved and anticipated. It is sweet to see and photograph the different stages of becoming a mom and dad. There are many things I love about doing newborn photo sessions, but being able to watch the way they gently hold and comfort their baby and get a front row view of the way the look with such pride down at their daughter are some of my favorites. These are the moments I love to photograph and document for parents to keep and remember forever.

Enjoy these highlights from an in home newborn photo session in this sweet baby girl’s nursery!

This newborn photo session was so lovely. Sweet baby girl did so amazing and the parents were calm and attentive to her needs. I always encourage parents during these sessions to feed, change, or do whatever else you need to in caring for your new baby during our session. That is the great thing about doing these at your own home and the reason I give an hour, so that we are not rushed and it can be a slower paced, calm environment.

At Home Newborn Photography Session | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

I first met this sweet family when I did a maternity photo session for them. They were so fun and easy to work with which made me excited that I was going to photograph them again once their little baby boy was born.

Here are a few of the highlights from the series of photos we took on their couch in the living room during our at home newborn photo session.

Toddlers usually have a lot of energy. I like to encourage the giggles and smiles that come easily at that age when you are playful with them. These parents were great at balancing being fun and playful with the older brother and being calm with their newborn baby!

As you can see, one of the great things about taking photos in the comfort of your own home is that the beloved family pet can be included too. The dog was very interested in his newest family member.

I love close ups and photos of just the newborn baby during the session. That way we can soak up all the small, adorable details like their tiny fingers, toes, nose, and lips. This handsome boy was just perfect.

Outdoor Maternity Photo Session | Atlanta Family Photographer

Here are some highlights from an outdoor Maternity Photo Session this summer at a beautiful park in Atlanta.

Maternity sessions are a beautiful way to celebrate your pregnancy and that you are growing your family. My goal is to capture photos of the mom-to-be in all her pregnancy glory (even if she doesn’t always feel like it!) and show her how amazing she is on this journey into motherhood.

Did you know most people tell me at the beginning of a session that they “aren’t photogenic” or are “awkward in front of a camera”? But guess what, I am too! No kidding, I am used to being behind the camera, so I feel all those things too when I get my photo taken. So I GET IT and I CAN HELP!

That is part of my job to help ease your mind and enjoy the process. I will help guide you through out the whole session so that you will feel comfortable and relaxed. I will tell you where to stand or sit and give you prompts of what to do or think about so that the genuine emotions and expressions come out in the photos. I will remind you to take a deep breath and relax. I am here for you. Let’s do this!
