You are having a baby—Congrats! You decide you want to get at home newborn photos done with me—hooray! Usually, the next question is, but what do we wear for newborn photos?
I just did this beautiful family’s newborn photos in their home, and they were a great example of what to wear for a photo session. Let’s start with your new, sweet little baby!
Newborn Photo Outfit tips:
Keep it simple. Your baby is fresh and new and adorable. So keep the outfit simple because everyone is looking at that precious little face anyway.
A basic onesie is great. It can be white, a solid color, or even a stripe.
I prefer no footies pjs or things that will cover up their adorable toes and fingers. We want to see and document all those details.
We can use swaddles or blankets to bring in other colors or patterns if needed.
Now let’s chat about what the parents can wear for the newborn photoshoot:
The mom and dad went with neutral tops and jeans. This is a great casual look that is perfect in the comfort of your own home.
The neutral outfits really allowed us to let the nursery decor and colors pop as well as their baby boy in his onesie & swaddle blanket.
Also notice how the mom’s top is textured and the dad’s top has a muted pattern. These small texture/pattern differences are great for adding some dimension to the photo while still keeping the color pallet neutral.
Always make sure that no matter what you choose, you are comfortable and confident in the outfit!
